Data, sources & licensing

OpenStreetMap

Many listings are imported from OpenStreetMap (amenity=toilets and venues explicitly tagged toilets=yes). Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database License (ODbL 1.0). Map tiles © OpenStreetMap contributors — copyright & license. Search by Nominatim.

Imported listings are labeled “Unconfirmed map listing · OpenStreetMap”; objects without a name in OpenStreetMap appear as “Unnamed mapped restroom”. Import time is never treated as a confirmation.

Official directories

Some listings come from official public restroom directories published by cities, parks or transit agencies. Each one names its source, links to the original page, shows its license and the date we fetched it (plus the source's own update date when it provides one).

Official directory entries are kept separate from visitor reports: a listing being published by a source is not a confirmation that anyone recently got in. Only “Did you get in?” answers count as visitor confirmations.

Freshness, honestly

“Last confirmed entry” and “last code confirmation” come only from visitors answering “Did you get in?”. Viewing a page never updates them. A code is only confirmed when a visitor says that code worked.

Hours reflect posted schedules in the place's local time zone, not live status. Distances are straight-line approximations.

New listings, corrections and codes are reviewed by moderators before they appear.
